Is InMotion Hosting a good web host?
Yes, for a US site whose owner wants room, support and time to decide. The plans are large, the refund window is the longest in this set, and the independent numbers are good. The compromises are a paid backup service and renewals at the high end of shared hosting. Everything in this review is a published fact we checked on the date given, a third-party measurement cited by name, or a gap we name as a gap. InMotion blocks plain fetches, so we read its pages in a real browser, which showed us euro prices from our European location.

The plan page prices depend on the visitor’s region. From Europe we saw Launch at €4.62 renewing at €14.50, Power at €5.58 renewing at €18.37, and Pro at €10.25 renewing at €25.12, on the annual term. The US dollar figures in the table come from HostScore’s reading on 17 September 2026 ($4.99 to $10.59 at signup, $14.99 to $25.99 at renewal) with Power’s renewal interpolated from the euro ratio; our freshness checker runs from a US location and this page will be corrected to its first reading. Kripesh Adwani read Launch and Power at $6.99 in October 2026, so the promotion moves.
Three-year cost on the entry plan
| Route | Years 1 to 3 |
|---|---|
| Annual, renewed twice | $59.88 + $179.88 + $179.88 = $419.64 |
How do refunds work?
The guarantee page sets out three tiers: 90 days on shared and WordPress plans and on 6-month or longer VPS, UltraStack One and reseller terms; 30 days on monthly VPS, reseller and dedicated terms; 7 days on Minecraft hosting. The FAQ adds the mechanics: a full refund in the first 30 days, a prorated refund between days 31 and 90 based on usage, nothing after day 90, and no refund on add-ons, domain fees or professional services. If a free domain was registered, its standard fee is deducted. Hosting and domains auto-renew with notice before each payment.
What does the uptime guarantee pay?
Power and Pro carry a 99.99 percent uptime guarantee on their plan cards; Launch does not. InMotion’s own blog describes the commitment as credit-backed and limited to its network and infrastructure, excluding problems caused by customer code. We could not reach a legal page stating the credit amount: the legal links on the site returned “page not found” when we rendered them, and the Trust Center index gave no figures. We have asked for the SLA text.
Where are the servers?
Three data centers, chosen at signup: Los Angeles for the US West Coast, Ashburn in Virginia for the East Coast, and Amsterdam for Europe. The data centers page marks Singapore as coming soon. Kripesh Adwani’s US-hosted test site shows the effect: a 690 millisecond load from New York and three seconds from Bangalore.
How fast and reliable is it?
Kripesh Adwani’s review, updated on 6 October 2026, ran a Power plan on US servers under Better Uptime for 365 days:
- 99.97 percent uptime over the year.
- Page load of 690 milliseconds from New York and 3.04 seconds from Bangalore; server response of 3 milliseconds from the US East Coast and 71 from the West Coast.
- A k6 load test at 50 virtual users: 9,337 requests, no failures, a 10 millisecond average response.
- Live chat answered in 10 to 15 minutes for simple questions.
WPBeginner’s review, dated 28 May 2025, monitored a shared-hosting WordPress site with Uptime Robot for over three months and recorded one 10-minute outage, “above 99.99 percent” overall. GTmetrix loaded the page in 769 milliseconds with a Largest Contentful Paint of 558 milliseconds, and a k6 run at 50 virtual users averaged 19 milliseconds. The plan tier and data center are not stated.
HostScore’s review, updated on 17 September 2026, scores InMotion 80.2 percent, reports uptime “well above 99.9 percent”, notes shared-plan limits of 1,024 MB/s I/O and 50,000 inodes, and reports mixed recent feedback on support wait times.
Two independent monitors, one a year long, both above 99.97 percent, and fast responses from the US. What is missing is anyone measuring from Europe against the Amsterdam location.
How good is the support?
Chat, tickets, phone and email, 24/7, from a US-based team; phone from the Power plan upward. Both reviewers describe the staff as knowledgeable; Kripesh Adwani timed chat at 10 to 15 minutes and HostScore relays reports of hours-long queues in some recent reviews. Trustpilot showed 4.5 out of 5 from about 2,760 reviews on 13 October 2026. We have not timed tickets ourselves and will add real ones to the support table on this page.
Who owns InMotion, and where is it?
InMotion Hosting, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Todd Robinson and Sunil Saxena, who still run it, and is headquartered in Virginia Beach with offices in Los Angeles. The company describes itself as founder-led and employee-owned with no private equity, venture capital or outside investors, and marked its 25th year in 2026.
What is missing or unclear?
- The US dollar prices from our own reading, pending the checker’s first US run.
- The SLA text behind the 99.99 percent guarantee and the credit it pays.
- Cores and RAM on Launch and Power.
- HostIdea’s own monitoring, support timing and load testing have not started.
Who should choose InMotion, and who should look elsewhere?
Choose it if you host in the US, want space and a developer stack on a shared plan, and value a long refund window. Power is the plan to buy: ten sites, 200 GB, phone support and the guarantee line.
Look elsewhere if backups must be included (Flashcloud, FastComet, SiteGround), if you need Asia today (FastComet, SiteGround), or if the renewal rate decides it (Hostinger, Flashcloud).
How we scored this review
The scores on this page are provisional. Uptime and performance credit a year-long third-party monitor with strong US results. Features reflect the large disks and developer stack against paid backups. Value weighs high renewals against the 90-day guarantee. Support reflects the channels and mixed timing reports, not our own tickets. Each score will be recomputed when our own data exists, and the review history on this page will show the change.
