Is HostArmada a good web host?
Yes for the first year, and acceptable after it if you pick the plan with your eyes open. HostArmada publishes more about its shared plans than most hosts: cores, RAM, process limits, file counts, database sizes and the number of backups kept, all in one comparison table. Three independent reviewers have published measurements, one of them a monthly uptime record over two and a half years. What the plan cards do not make obvious is that the “regular price” column is what you pay from the second term, and that the two cheaper plans run a static cache only. Everything below is a fact we checked on 14 October 2026 or a gap we name.
What do you get on each plan?
| Plan | Websites | Storage | CPU and RAM | Backups | Mailboxes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Start Dock | 1 | 15 GB | 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM | 7 daily backups kept, offsite | Unlimited, 750 MB each |
| Web Warp | Unlimited | 30 GB | 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM | 14 daily backups kept, offsite | Unlimited, 1,500 MB each |
| Speed Reaper | Unlimited | 40 GB | 6 CPU cores, 6 GB RAM | 21 daily backups kept, offsite | Unlimited, 3,000 MB each |

All three plans run cPanel on CloudLinux with CageFS isolation, NVMe storage, free Sectigo SSL through AutoSSL, daily offsite backups, a malware scanner with removal, network and web application firewalls, unlimited email accounts (with mailbox and sending quotas per plan), unlimited MySQL databases within a size cap, SSH, Git, Node.js, Python, Perl, WP-CLI and Drush, PHP 5.6 to 8.3, a third-party website builder, Cloudflare support and 24/7 support by chat, ticket and phone. The differences are in the table above: Start Dock is a one-site plan with a 7-day backup window and 2 cores; Web Warp lifts the site cap and doubles everything; Speed Reaper adds dynamic caching, Memcached, APC, OPcache and HTTP/3 and keeps 21 days of backups. Free transfers scale 1, 3 and 5.
Bandwidth is “acceptable usage” rather than a cap: 30, 60 and 90 GB a month, which the page says is not billed or enforced automatically but will prompt a conversation. The visitor guidance of about 30,000, 60,000 and 120,000 a month is likewise a sizing hint, not a limit.

The plan page sells four cycles. The monthly price has no discount and no refund. The annual cycle carries the headline discount (82 percent on 14 October 2026), and the 24- and 36-month cycles a slightly smaller one with a slightly higher monthly figure, so the cheapest first-year route is the annual cycle. Renewal is the “regular price” shown under each card: $11.95, $18.65 and $21.95 a month on the annual cycle. The regular price falls with the term, so a 36-month renewal of Start Dock is $9.95 a month ($358.20 for three years).
Three-year cost on the entry plan
| Route | Years 1 to 3 |
|---|---|
| 12 months, renewed twice | $25.81 + $143.40 + $143.40 = $312.61 |
| 36 months up front, then renewed at the 36-month regular price | $93.13 for the first three years ($358.20 for the next three) |
| Month to month | $12.95 × 36 = $466.20 |
The 36-month cycle is the cheapest way to hold Start Dock for three years, and it keeps the 45-day refund.
How do refunds work?
The cancellation and refunds agreement, last modified on 21 June 2023, gives 45 days from activation on the first order of a shared or reseller plan, and 7 days on a VPS or dedicated server. It then lists the exceptions: a plan bought on a monthly billing cycle, an upgrade or extra service older than 45 days, a second account opened to dodge a renewal, and the cost of any domain registered free with the plan, which is withheld. Renewals, add-ons and third-party services are never refundable. There is no prorated refund after the window unless HostArmada itself cancels a service for a reason other than a terms violation.
Cancellation is through the client dashboard or a billing ticket, with a choice between immediate and end-of-term. The renewal invoice is raised 14 days ahead and the card is charged 7 days ahead; cancelling in that final week still gets a refund of the renewal minus one month at the regular monthly price. A cancelled shared account and its backups are deleted five days later.
What is the infrastructure?
Shared accounts sit on KVM virtual machines with NVMe storage and CloudLinux, per the plan and data centers pages. The web server is shown as a logo rather than named on the plan cards; HostScore and Cybernews describe NGINX on the lower plans and LiteSpeed on Speed Reaper, and Kripesh Adwani’s Speed Reaper site ran the LiteSpeed Cache plugin. Nine locations are offered for shared hosting (the data centers page also says 23 for cloud VPS), and the page lists a test IP for Montreal, Dallas, London, Frankfurt, Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney.
The service level agreement promises 99.9 percent availability per month for every hosted website and credits 10 percent of the monthly fee per hour of downtime, up to 100 percent, calculated from HostArmada’s own records only. Backups are described as best effort on separate storage, with at least one full account copy guaranteed.
How fast and reliable is it?
Kripesh Adwani’s review, updated on 6 October 2026, carries the longest record: a Better Uptime monitor checking every 30 seconds on a Web Warp site in Mumbai, with a month-by-month table from May 2024:
- 99.99 percent average over the 12 months to September 2026, and 99.99 percent over the last 30 days. The weakest month in that year was August 2026 at 99.75 percent.
- A second site on Speed Reaper, also in Mumbai, averaged 99.98 percent over 365 days and 100 percent over the last 30 days.
- Server response of 5 ms from Mumbai, 60 ms from Singapore and 254 to 329 ms from US locations, which is what you would expect of an Indian server.
- A k6 load test from India at 50 virtual users: 9,900 requests, no failures, 8.03 ms at the 95th percentile. The Speed Reaper site took 100 virtual users at a 29 ms P95.
Cybernews, in a review by Adomas Misiūnas updated on 25 March 2026, monitored for two weeks and recorded 100 percent uptime with no outages and an average response of 94.57 ms. Its k6 test at 50 virtual users returned a 35 ms P95 with no errors. Largest Contentful Paint on its WordPress test site was 1,897 ms. The plan, server location and monitoring tool are not stated.
WPBeginner’s review by Nouman Yaqoob, dated 2 January 2026, measured a GTmetrix full load of 822 ms and an LCP of 543 ms, response times from six regions with Oregon fastest at 330 ms, and a k6 run at 50 virtual users with a 137 ms P95 and no errors. Its summary table prints an average response of 675 ms and a 1.2 second load, which do not match the body text, so we store both. Its UptimeRobot monitor had only just started and gives no figure.
Read together: no published outage of note, a 365-day record at 99.99 percent on one server, and three load tests that all held 50 concurrent users without errors. None of the three states which US or European data center it tested, and the one long record is from India.
How good is the support?
HostArmada offers chat, phone (a US number) and tickets around the clock, with a knowledge base and tutorials. The homepage claims chats and calls are answered immediately and tickets handled within ten minutes; we have not timed either. The SLA calls support a complimentary service outside the hosting contract and lists cases where a fee may apply, including third-party software, development work and an excessive number of requests. WPBeginner and Cybernews both describe quick, detailed chat answers; HostScore counts 96 positive and 3 negative user submissions. We will add timed tickets to the support table on this page when our window opens.
Who owns HostArmada, and where is it?
HostArmada INC, with 501 Silverside Rd, Wilmington, Delaware as the address in its privacy policy and a Delaware phone number on every page. The company page calls it independently funded and privately owned and names five staff by role: a system administration captain, a marketing and customer care manager, a sales and billing supervisor, a content specialist and a technical support supervisor. HostScore dates the founding to 2019, which matches the general terms, last modified on 30 November 2019. HostScore also names a founder, Daniel Walton; HostArmada’s own pages do not, so we do not repeat it as fact.
What is missing or unclear?
- Whether any shared plan includes a free domain. The banner says yes for selected products; the pricing data says no.
- Which web server runs the lower plans. The plan page shows a logo; reviewers say NGINX below Speed Reaper and LiteSpeed on it.
- Staging. Not listed in the shared comparison table; HostScore mentions staging environments.
- Where HostArmada’s staff and operations are. The address is a Delaware registered office.
- HostIdea’s own monitoring, support timing and load testing have not started.
Who should choose HostArmada, and who should wait?
Choose it if your visitors are in Canada, Europe, India, Southeast Asia or Australia and you want a cPanel host with a local server, daily backups kept for a week or more and a 45-day refund. Web Warp on the 36-month cycle is the plan to buy for more than one site: unlimited sites, 4 GB RAM and 14 backup days for $153.93 over three years.
Wait if the renewal matters more than the first year, or if you need dynamic caching on a cheap plan. FastComet renews Starter at $9.95 with 30 daily backups and gives LiteSpeed on every plan; ScalaHosting offers an anytime prorated refund; Flashcloud includes the domain at renewal.
How we scored this review
The scores on this page are provisional. Performance and uptime rest on Kripesh Adwani’s 365-day record and the three published load tests, discounted because only one of them names its server location. Features credit the per-plan limits, the backup windows and the nine locations, and deduct for the missing domain and the top-plan-only caching. Value weighs renewals of $11.95 to $21.95 against what is included. Support reflects the channels and the reviewers’ accounts, not timed tickets. Each score will be recomputed when our own data exists, and the review history on this page will show the change.
