Is Kinsta a good web host?
Yes, for a WordPress site that earns its keep. Kinsta charges $30 a month for one site and in return manages everything around it: a container per site, daily backups, staging, a Cloudflare CDN with edge caching, a firewall, malware removal, migrations and a choice of 30 data centers, with support staff rather than bots on the other end. It is also unusually well documented by others: HostingStep has monitored it continuously since 2020, and two more publications add recent windows. The numbers say it stays up and handles load well, and that its US first-byte time is ordinary for the price. Everything below is a published fact we checked on 14 October 2026 or a gap we name.

Kinsta sells its Business plans two ways: billed by server bandwidth (Single 20GB, 40GB, 65GB, 125GB, 250GB, 500GB, then WP 2 to WP 40 for several sites) or billed by visits (Launch at 75,000 visits a month, then 125,000, 200,000, 350,000, 650,000 and 1,500,000). The two entry plans cost the same and differ in shape: Single 20GB gives 20 GB of server bandwidth and 10 GB of storage, Launch 15 GB of bandwidth, 15 GB of storage and the visit guidance. Both carry 125 GB of CDN bandwidth, 14 days of backup retention, unlimited migrations, one-click staging, wildcard SSL, a managed WAF with DDoS protection, bot protection, free malware removal, SSH, WP-CLI, Git, the Kinsta API and a built-in APM tool. Extra sites cost $30 a month and extra storage $20 per 20 GB. Backup retention rises to 20 and 30 days on larger plans, and account managers come with the higher tiers. Kinsta does not host email or sell domains.
What does it cost?
| Plan | Monthly | 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| Single 20GB | $35.00/mosame at renewal | $30.00/mosame at renewal |

Monthly or annual billing, with annual priced at ten months: the entry plans are $35 a month or $350 a year, shown as $30 a month. The first month is free on the entry plans. Up the bandwidth ladder the monthly prices are $50, $90, $170, $290 and $375 (annual equivalents $42, $75, $142, $242 and $313); the multi-site plans run $70, $115, $225, $340 and $450 a month. Agency plans start at $340 a month. There is no renewal column because the terms set renewal at the standard fee, and Kinsta’s own pages and the reviews we cite describe the price as flat.
Three-year cost on the entry plan
| Route | Years 1 to 3 |
|---|---|
| Annual, renewed twice | $350 + $350 + $350 = $1,050 |
| Month to month | $0 + $35 × 35 = $1,225 |
How do refunds work?
Kinsta’s money-back guarantee doc, updated 23 August 2024, refunds a managed WordPress plan cancelled within 30 days of activation, for first-time customers only. Dedicated servers, one-time fees and overages are excluded, and any fees incurred in the period are deducted; upgrading or downgrading inside the 30 days does not restart them. On the entry plans that begin with a free month, the 30 days count from the first paid renewal. After the window, a cancellation scheduled in MyKinsta takes effect at the end of the current billing period, with no refund; cancelled add-ons become account credit. The terms add that plans auto-renew for the previous period or twelve months, whichever is shorter, and that a promotional price renews at the standard fee.
What is the infrastructure?
Each site runs in its own Linux container with its database inside, on what Kinsta’s uptime doc calls leading cloud platforms, fronted by Cloudflare for the CDN, edge caching, SSL and firewall. The data center docs, updated 2 February 2026, list 30 locations chosen per site at creation; the region codes on that page use the naming of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and HostingStep says its test plan runs on Oracle Cloud, while HostScore still describes Google Cloud C2 machines, which was Kinsta’s earlier platform. Kinsta does not run load-balanced copies of a site; its SLA promises 99.9 percent per month, with credits as a share of the month’s fee once downtime exceeds 43 minutes, and a daily maintenance window from 2 am to 5 am local time at each data center.
How fast and reliable is it?
HostingStep’s review by Mohan Raj, updated on 22 July 2026, has monitored a Starter site with Pingdom every minute since 2020 and publishes its check ID:
- 99.98 percent uptime from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026. By calendar year: 99.999 percent in 2024 with one outage of three minutes, and 99.97 percent in 2025 with five outages and 149 minutes, which the page attributes partly to Cloudflare outages.
- An average TTFB of 525 ms from US locations over the window, after 466 ms in 2024 and 459 ms in 2025; the page calls it below the median of the 34 hosts it monitors and slower than several cheaper ones.
- A load test at 100 concurrent users with a 40 ms average response and no errors, and a WPBench hardware score of 8.8.
- A cached global TTFB of 477 ms across 40 cities: 268 ms in the Americas, about 700 ms in Asia Pacific.
Kripesh Adwani’s review, updated on 6 October 2026, monitors a Starter site in Mumbai: 100 percent over the 365 days to September 2026 and over the last 30 days, with a monthly table back to June 2023 whose lowest month is 99.94 percent. His k6 run at 50 virtual users made 9,729 requests with one failure and a 38 ms P95; pages loaded in 870 ms from India and 1.29 s from New York.
Cybernews, in a review by Nijolė Simaitienė updated on 20 December 2024, hosted a site in Dulles, Virginia and monitored it for two weeks: 100 percent uptime, a 461 ms average response, an LCP of 531 ms on a blank site and 2,118 ms on a built one, and a 50-user stress test at a 67 ms average with no failures.
HostScore’s review, updated on 14 October 2026, scores Kinsta 82.2 percent and cites a 155 ms global average from monitoring it says ended in 2023. We found no WPBeginner review of Kinsta.
Read together: the best-documented uptime in our list, strong behaviour under load, fast delivery through the edge cache, and a US origin response that three sources put between 460 and 525 ms.
How good is the support?
24/7 human support by chat and ticket in eight languages, per the pricing and about pages, with phone and WhatsApp listed for sales rather than support. Account managers come with the higher plans. HostScore and Kripesh Adwani both describe the support as expert; HostingStep’s complaint is price, not service. We have not timed tickets ourselves and will add real ones to the support table on this page.
Who owns Kinsta, and where is it?
Kinsta Inc., founded in 2013, privately held, with its address at 8605 Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood, California in the privacy policy and a remote team covering all time zones, per the about page, which counts clients in 128 countries. HostScore names the four founders. The terms are governed by Delaware law with arbitration, and Kinsta holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification.
What is missing or unclear?
- Which cloud provider hosts the sites today; Kinsta’s pages say “leading cloud platforms” and the data center codes point to Oracle Cloud.
- Which data center each reviewer’s test site used (only Kripesh Adwani and Cybernews say).
- The visits-billed plan names above Launch; the compare table lists Single 35k to Single 750k against the Launch ladder’s figures.
- HostIdea’s own monitoring, support timing and load testing have not started.
Who should choose Kinsta, and who should wait?
Choose it if one WordPress site carries your business and you would rather pay $350 a year for a managed, measured platform than assemble backups, staging, caching and security on a $5 plan. Launch, the visits-billed entry plan, is the one to buy; add the annual term for two months free.
Wait if the budget is the constraint or you need email in the package. Hosting.com and SiteGround sell managed-feel WordPress hosting with email and daily backups at a fraction of the price, with their own published measurements behind them.
How we scored this review
The scores on this page are provisional. Uptime rests on three independent windows, including a year-by-year record since 2020. Performance weighs an average US TTFB against excellent load handling and edge delivery. Features credit staging, backups, CDN, security and the 30 locations, and deduct for the absence of email. Value reflects $30 a month for one site with 10 GB, flat at renewal. Support reflects the channels and reviewer accounts, not timed tickets. Ease of use credits MyKinsta as the reviewers describe it. Each score will be recomputed when our own data exists, and the review history on this page will show the change.
