No HostIdea monitoring window is open for these hosts yet. Uptime and response are published third-party measurements, one per host by a fixed rule (longest stated independent window, and its response figure or the most recent one); methods differ, so read them as a guide. Each review lists every source with its method.

Every host on this list sells a shared plan that will run WordPress. The order below is about what the entry plan actually includes for a WordPress site, read from each host’s plan pages and terms: whether backups are daily and how long they are kept, whether staging exists, what caching is turned on, whether the domain is free beyond the first year, and what the plan costs when the introductory term ends.

We have not yet run our own monitoring on these hosts. Where independent measurements exist they are listed in each review’s results section; they did not decide this order, because their methods differ too much to compare. When our windows complete, the performance and uptime sub-scores will move and this list will be re-ordered.

The short version: the hosts that include daily backups with real retention, staging and server-side caching at the entry price (Flashcloud, SiteGround, Hosting.com) sit above the ones that charge extra for backups or omit staging.

1. FlashcloudBest overall

Start gives one site 2 cores and 2 GB of RAM, LiteSpeed with Redis, daily backups kept for 30 days, staging, a domain that stays free for the life of the plan and unlimited mailboxes, for $2.79 a month on a 12-month term and $9.99 after. Nothing else on this list includes as much at the entry price.

FlashcloudOur pick

Shared and WordPress hosting with a free domain for life, 30-day backups and an anytime prorated refund

Best for: Small business sites; WordPress sites that want backups and a domain included; Owners who want the first site built for them; Audiences in North America, Europe or Southeast Asia

$2.79/mo intro, $9.99/mo renewal

2. SiteGroundBest managed-style tooling

StartUp bundles daily backups kept for 30 days, the Speed Optimizer plugin, a Google Cloud CDN and the automatic WordPress migrator, with staging from GrowBig. The catch is the renewal: $17.99 a month for one site after the first year, the highest on this list.

SiteGround

Managed-feel shared hosting on Google Cloud with daily backups and staging; the renewals are the price

Best for: WordPress sites that want backups, staging and a CDN included; Small businesses that value support reputation over price; Audiences near one of its eleven data centers; Agencies on GoGeek (Git, white label, priority support)

$2.99/mo intro, $17.99/mo renewal

3. Hosting.comBest for growing sites

Starter includes three staging sites, daily off-server backups with 30-day restore points, LiteSpeed caching and stated resources (2 virtual cores, 2 GB), and the same panel carries through to VPS and dedicated plans. The 48-month term behind the $1.99 price is the thing to notice.

Hosting.com

The former A2 Hosting under World Host Group: stated cores and RAM, 30-day backups, staging from Pro, phone support

Best for: Sites that will grow into a managed server on the same platform; Owners who want phone support and stated resources; Developers using the OpenAPI and MCP server access; Agencies on Max with the service level agreement

$1.99/mo intro, $13.99/mo renewal

4. HostingerBest for beginners

hPanel is the simplest panel in this set and Premium is $2.99 a month on a 48-month term. Backups are weekly on Premium (daily from Unlimited), mailboxes are free only for the first year, and the plan page we read does not list staging.

Hostinger

Very cheap on a 48-month term, with an easy custom panel; the entry plan cuts backups and email

Best for: Beginners; Budget personal sites; Running several small sites on one plan; Audiences near one of its twelve data center regions

$2.99/mo intro, $10.99/mo renewal

5. ScalaHosting

Daily backups with seven restore points, SPanel instead of cPanel fees, and a clear path to a managed cloud VPS. Staging is not listed on the shared plan cards and the Mini plan has no free domain.

ScalaHosting

Dallas and Sofia host with its own SPanel, an anytime prorated refund and a credit table that reaches 100 percent

Best for: Sites that will move to a managed cloud VPS on the same platform; Owners who want a refund they can take at any time; People who prefer a free control panel to cPanel fees; Audiences in the US or Europe

$2.95/mo intro, $11.95/mo renewal

6. FastComet

Thirty daily offsite backups with unlimited restores on the $1.99 Starter plan, LiteSpeed with the LSCache plugin and six locations at checkout. Storage is small (10 GB) and staging is not mentioned on the plan pages.

FastComet

cPanel hosting on LiteSpeed with 30 daily offsite backups and 12 locations; small disks, now part of World Host Group

Best for: Sites whose visitors are near one of its 12 locations; Owners who want phone support and cPanel; Small sites on a low first-year price; Developers who want Node.js and SSH on shared plans

$1.99/mo intro, $9.95/mo renewal

7. Bluehost

A staging site, object caching, a CDN and SSH on every plan, better than the brand's reputation suggests, but backups are weekly, email is a trial and the 36-month term is the only one shown on the plan page.

Bluehost

Newfold's WordPress-recommended host: three shared tiers on 36-month terms, weekly backups, a 5 percent SLA coupon

Best for: Beginners who want the WordPress.org-recommended default; Sites that expect to grow into Bluehost Cloud or a VPS; Owners who want AI site-building tools bundled; Audiences in North America

$3.99/mo intro, $9.99/mo renewal

8. InMotion Hosting

A 90-day refund window, 100 GB on the Launch plan and a full developer stack, but backups are a paid add-on, which disqualifies it from the top half for a WordPress site that needs restore points.

InMotion Hosting

Employee-owned US host since 2001 with a 90-day refund, generous disks and US-based support; backups are a paid add-on

Best for: US sites that want a long refund window; Owners who value US-based phone support; Sites that need 100 GB or more on a cheap plan; Developers who want Python, Node.js, Ruby and Git on shared hosting

$4.99/mo intro, $14.99/mo renewal

9. HostPapa

Staging on every plan and 25 GB on Essentials, but backups are free only for the first year and become a paid add-on after that, and the resource tiers (1x to 8x) do not state cores or RAM.

HostPapa

Canadian cPanel host with phone support in 16 countries and five data centers; backups cost extra after year one

Best for: Canadian sites that want Toronto hosting and PIPEDA alignment; Owners who want phone support in their own language; Small business sites that use the bundled email and office tools; Beginners on cPanel with a staged first year

$2.95/mo intro, $8.99/mo renewal

Frequently asked questions

Do I need managed WordPress hosting instead?

For most sites under a few thousand visits a day, no. The hosts in the top half of this list include daily backups, staging and caching on shared plans, which is most of what managed plans sell. Pay for managed hosting when you want someone else to handle updates and security, and are willing to pay three to five times the shared price.

Why is the renewal price in every entry?

Because that is what you pay for most of the plan's life. Introductory prices on this list run from $1.99 to $4.99 a month; renewals run from $8.99 to $17.99. A plan that looks cheapest in year one can be the most expensive by year three.

Which of these hosts has HostIdea tested itself?

None yet. Every figure comes from the host's published terms or from independent measurements cited by name and date in the review. The methodology page explains the three layers and what happens when our own data arrives.
