If your website is content based or an e-commerce based
site in need of a secondary income, Affiliate programs and Advertising
Networks may be just what you are looking for. Below we've detailed
a few of our favorite options.
Advertising Networks
An
Advertising network acts as a "sales force" for your website,
selling your advertising space to various companies. Typically, they
handle the tracking, invoicing, and collections from the advertiser.
The network then pays you, after taking a percentage of the sale as
commission.
We recommend these Advertising Networks:
FastClick
- A
great advertising network with a bundle of features. FastClick
offers a mixture of CPC and CPM campaigns, paying 65% of the revenue
to you. The campaign manager allows you to exclude advertising
that may not be appropriate for your site, and also lets you specify a
"default" campaign to show when FastClick has no paying
banners available. This allows you to use multiple ad networks
for maximum revenue!
FastClick pays via check, but also offers faster options. For
quicker payments, you can choose to receive your advertising monies
via
PayPal,
and Direct Deposit (direct deposit coming soon).
ValueClick
- A
tried and true advertising option. ValueClick offers CPC
advertising, and pays from $.12 - $.20 a click, depending on the
quality of your site, and the quantity of your traffic.
They also allows for "default" campaigns, making sure every
advertising impression is used to its fullest.
FocusIN
-
Specializing in connecting advertisers with targeted advertising
space, FocusIN is a great option for content related sites. They
offer a mixture of CPM and CPC campaigns, and fill 100% of your
available inventory with paid ads. The minimum compensations are
$.65 per 1000 ads shown for CPM and $.15 per click for CPC campaigns.
Affiliate Networks
Affiliate
programs allow advertisers to pay you commissions for Sales, Leads, and
Clickthroughs on an individual basis. The greatest advantage of
affiliate programs is that you can choose from various ways to link to the
advertiser. Most affiliate programs support text links and
multi-sized banners in addition to the 468x60 standard.
Many
sites use "Affiliate Networks" for their Affiliate programs,
allowing them to offload tracking, payments, and membership management.
This makes things convenient for you, the publisher; as you are able to
take advantage of unified reporting, and in some cases unified payments.
We
recommend these Affiliate Networks:
Commission
Junction -
CJ offers a large variety of affiliate programs. Programs are
organized by topic, which makes it relatively easy to find programs
that fit well with your content. Joining programs is a SNAP!
CJ has several advantages over other affiliate networks. You can
manage more than one website on a single account. Reports are
available in a variety of fashions enabling you to track a network of
sites, a single site, or even a single affiliate program.
Not only does CJ use unified reporting with one report for all your
affiliate partners, but they also group payments together. This
usually means you get paid faster. Commission Junction offers
payments via Check, or Direct Deposit.
Linkshare
-
Linkshare has a large number of programs from well known websites.
Most LinkShare programs offer both Text and Graphical linking methods.
LinkShare offers a number of unified reports, but payments are make on
a "per program" basis. This means you will only be
paid when you reach the minimum for an individual program, rather than
a collective minimum.
